Owners and Managers of Rookery Cottage

Derry Bass.

 

Derry is the Registered Manager and Managing Partner of Rookery Cottage Care Home.  After graduating from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in 1998 Derry worked at The British Library and followed by a number of years teaching English in Spain before returning to the UK to complete an MA in TESOL at the University of London in 2003.

 

In 2003 as the family business grew Derry returned to Kettering and brought his skills and experience to Rookery Cottage where he took training and professional development responsibilities at the Home. In 2008 he completed both his NVQ 4 Registered Managers Award and is currently working on a PhD researching the use of Virtual Reality in Dementia Care at the University of Kent.

 

As Managing Partner of Rookery Cottage and Registered Manager, Derry's responsibilities focus on the development of Care Planning, Financial and Administrative Management, Professional and Legal compliance and liaison with Social Services and other health care professionals and partners.

 

Diane Bass

 

Diane and her husband Derek are also partners at Rookery Cottage Residential Home. Di is also a Registered Manager of the care home.  Diane began working in Residential Care in the early 1980s and set up Rookery Cottage Residential Home in 1989.  Since the first three residents have been welcomed into the Home, Di has been devoted to enusre that each and every resident has the very best of everything..

 

Diane completed her NVQ 4 Registered Managers Award in 2007 and her commitment to staff training has seen all of the staff team complete their NVQ training as well as professional development training over the whole spectrum of care and dementia care specifically.

 

Diane's responsibilities focus on liaison with families, assessment of support needs and maintaining the day to day quality of care and support that she has insisted that Rookery Cottage gives to all of those who live there.
