Rookery Cottage is a beautiful, old, Northamptonshire stone cottage set on the main street of Thorpe Malsor a sleepy village only 2 miles from Kettering.
It spent much of its life as a farmhouse before being bought by Diane and Derek Bass in 1982 as the family home for themselves and their two young children.
Diane began working in Residential Care in the 1980s and in 1988 Diane and Derek decided to establish their own Residential Care Home at Rookery Cottage. A year of renovations began before the Home was ready to open in November 1989.
Over the next few years the home slowly grew from 3 residents and now provides care and support to 13 residents. Derry Bass joined the Home in 2003 and Diane and Derry have maintained the original friendly, family feel to the home whilst ensuring high levels of professional care are constantly provided and the Home continues to receive high praise in Health and Social Care assessments.
We truly believe that when people come to live at Rookery Cottage to the best of our ability we are offering them a home for life.
We would not be able to provide this support without a consistent and dedicated staff team and many of our staff have also been with us for 10 years and over. This not only provides a stable environment particularly for those who find change difficult and confusing but also enables staff training and development to centre around the needs of those who live in Rookery Cottage.
